Something to chew on.

November 26, 2006

I must say first off that some people might not agree completely with what I am about to write.
Jesus stated plainly, “…For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” Matt. 12:34
There was a good example of it at the beginning of this week. You are welcome to watch the outburst of the former Seinfeld star. This vocal tirade definitely proved the scripture above true. You cannot honestly tell me that the words that he said were just random anger. In the comfort of his own circle he obviously cracked jokes that he thought were innocent. Everything comes to the surface at some point. This is the reality that we all must live with. What we put in will come out, inevitably.
Please forebear with me as we peruse through some important scripture.
Matt 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
John 6
“…but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
John 7
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus continually speaks about hungering and thirsting. Declaring Himself as the true quencher of every desire. He speaks of the drink and food, our appetites. It is really spiritual symbolism that he speaks of instead of actual bread and water. I came to realize the other day how important my appetite was to God. Every single thing that I put in me has an effect. Every movie, every song, and every word that I read has an effect on my inner man, on my heart. I look at Christians around me and it concerns me. I see them filling their hearts with junk. It might be even decent enough stuff about the world around us. However, our appetites cannot be truly satisfied with anything but Jesus. Instead what happens is what we eat clogs up our inner man. The things we have eaten creates congestion. It produces fear, worry, hate, lust, etc. Then we suddenly don’t know why we are so angry at a certain person or having a sleepless night with worry over the world’s events. It is because every infinitesimal thing that we eat effects us. The appetite is a challenging thing. A little bit of nibbling on something doesn’t hurt. But then we find out that it is good. Tidbits don’t satisfy. We dig in. After a few mouthfuls, we find satisfaction must be further along because we aren’t yet. I know one thing is true God does not always take appetites that are ungodly immediately away from us. We must confess to God that we have these appetites and declare that we want our appetite for him to be greater, our desire for Him to take control. Some people might think their appetites for certain things right now might not hurt them, but I will disagree with them.
John 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

What this world offers will never fill, even ministry will never fill the hunger inside of us. Only Jesus can satisfy the appetites that he created.

Back in the swing of things…

August 16, 2006

I know it has been awhile since I last blogged. I have been really busy I must say. The summer flew by. July was practically nonexistent. I was out of town two of those weeks and working night and day on some freelance video projects the other two weeks. But I have a lot to write actually. Things are changing around here(mostly inside of me).
Stay tuned.

STUNNED

May 4, 2006

I know many have been waiting for the sequels to my post “Inheritance,” and trust me they are on the way. I have just been incredibly busy with school and life as the spring semester comes to a close. Tonight though, I ignored the callings to study for a final I have tomorrow to watch LOST. Needless, to say for all those who are in the know, I sat stunned, ranting and exclaiming how they possibly could not and cannot do what they just did on the show!!!!!! I was like “Oh my gosh!!! No way!!! They cannot do that!!!” And for those who either messed up their VCR recordings of LOST (And need to get it from our TIVO) or simply couldn’t stay up late to watch it, I shall say no more. :)
It’s crazy and incredible and proves that LOST is still a force to be reckon with on TV.
